Personal Freedom and a Flag

The confederate flag has been the subject of controversy ever since it was taken down by the state of South Carolina. On July 10th of 2015, the state of South Carolina took down the flag after a mass of various protests. The protests were surrounding what the flag stood for. Some people believed that the flag was nothing more than their heritage. It represented their heritage by showing how far America has come since the civil war. It was put up in 1860 as a reminder of the confederate. After the war years went by and the flag was picked up by neo-Nazi groups. Those group initially were not connected to the civil war or confederates. Now they use the flag to represent themselves just like other evil dictators have used symbols of history as their flag / representation. That is sad, but that is the way it has to be.
Now since people see it on or associated with neo-Nazi groups, some people in South Carolina wanted the flag taken down. The people who wanted the flag taken down saw the flag as a form of racism in the past. It was seen as the state supporting the racism in the past and boasting about it. The flag was spoken about through personal freedom, the freedom to speak.
Through personal freedom people were able to see to it that the symbol of hate in their eyes was taken down. This was a good lesson in reminding the modern generation what using their freedom can do for themselves.
